- Transparency: Clear and comprehensive guidelines are provided for authors, reviewers, and editors to ensure a smooth and informed publishing process.
- Rigorous Peer Review: All submissions undergo a meticulous peer review process conducted by experts within the relevant field. We value constructive feedback and strive to maintain the integrity of peer review to uphold the quality of published research.
- Conflict of Interest Management: We identify and manage potential conflicts of interest to ensure a fair and unbiased publishing process. Authors are required to disclose any conflicts that may influence their work. We rely on integrity of the author to provide appropriate disclosures as needed.
- Copyright and Licensing: We respect intellectual property rights. Authors retain copyright to their work, and users are granted permission to access, share, and cite content in accordance with clearly defined licenses.
- Corresponding author: The corresponding author’s email address is shown on the published article and in its PDF, so that readers can write to them; agreeing to this is part of submitting an article. Co-authors’ addresses are shown only if they choose.
- Appeals. An author may appeal an editorial decision once, in writing to the editorial office within 30 days of the decision, stating the grounds. The appeal is considered by an editor who was not involved in the original decision. The outcome of the appeal is final.
Open access:
- Everything on The Gufo is free to read, download and share. Articles published with The Gufo are released under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 licence (CC BY-NC 4.0); shared articles keep the Creative Commons licence of their original publisher.
- Authors are encouraged to deposit their published articles in their institutional repositories or on personal websites, alongside the version on The Gufo.
- Submitted material must be free of classified or sensitive information; the author providing it is responsible for this.
Copyright:
- Authors retain the copyright of their published work. On submission, authors grant The Gufo a non-exclusive licence to publish the work on the platform and disseminate it through its channels.
- Authors are responsible for the originality of their work and for citing every source they use. A manuscript found to be plagiarised is rejected; in severe cases The Gufo may inform the author’s institution or funder.
- Authorship is limited to those who made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution or interpretation of the research, and every author is listed accurately.
- A copyright concern is reported to [email protected] with “Copyright infringement” in the subject line, a link to the item and evidence of ownership; see Copyright infringement.
