Abstract

We investigate the behavior of the transmission and reflection bands for a plane electromagnetic wave falling obliquely on an ideal layered structure. The width of allowed bands as function of the structure parameters and the wave incident angle is considered. It is shown, that in general case the bandwidth is a non-monotonous function of the problem parameters. The conditions defining the contact of the transmission bands for the both types of wave polarizations are derived. It is proved that irrespective of the wave polarization, the transmission coefficient equals to unit at the contact points. It is also shown that in the case of Brewster angle the contact of the allowed p bands is also take place.
