Abstract
An analysis of the condition, existing problems and ways of rational use of non- wood forest products in Kazakhstan compared with other regions of the world is presented. Special attention is paid to food safety of food products (wild berries, edible mushrooms) and fodder vegetation. The levels of contamination of the investigated forest areas with radioactive substances near the Semipalatinsk test site, the most toxic heavy metals near industrial enterprises in the Eastern Kazakhstan were established.
